Bangkok, 18 August 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in Mexico City and key partners from both public and private sectors, is marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Mexico. As part of the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025, TAT is intensifying efforts to attract high-spending, long-haul travellers from the Mexican market.

The Thailand Special Deal campaign was officially launched on 7 August in collaboration with El Palacio de Hierro, Mexico’s premier department store. Offering exclusive Thai travel promotions to affluent Mexican consumers, the campaign leverages the store’s 31 locations and its base of over 100,000 credit card members to reach a prime, travel-ready audience.

Preceding the launch, TAT held a training session for 30 agents from Viajes Palacio and hosted a networking event with premium tour operators and media at Galanga House on 6 August to strengthen business ties and provide tourism product updates.

TAT also brought Thai culture to the forefront at Thai Festival Mexico 2025, held on 9–10 August at the National Center of Arts (CENART), Mexico City. Highlights included a lively molam performance by Molam Idol Band (The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band), a live mural by Thai street artist TRK (Teerayut Puechpen), and a hands-on mask-painting activity blending Thai artistry with Mexico’s lucha libre tradition.

“TAT is focused on growing the quality traveller segment, and Mexico is central to that strategy,” said Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor. “It’s a market with strong potential. Our aim is to deliver sustainable, value-rich experiences that resonate with Mexican travellers.”

From 1 January to 3 August 2025, 26,960 Mexican tourists visited Thailand, ranking second among Latin American markets after Brazil. TAT is targeting 51,600 Mexican visitors by year-end—a 20% increase from 2024—driven by continued promotions and cultural engagement.
