Bangkok, 28 September 2025 – Her Royal Highness Princess Ubolratana presided over the presentation of the 15th Thailand Tourism Awards, conferring honours on 151 distinguished tourism operators in a ceremony that underscored both national pride and global recognition. Held on World Tourism Day (27 September) at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, the occasion symbolised Thailand’s commitment to responsible and sustainable tourism while marking three decades of the nation’s most respected industry accolades.

The ceremony was attended by Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), together with TAT executives, members of the judging panel and partner organisations. Their presence reflected the collaborative approach behind the Awards, which aim to elevate service standards, inspire innovation and strengthen Thailand’s position as a leading global destination.

Ms. Thapanee said the Thailand Tourism Awards stand as “a mark of honour for Thailand’s tourism industry, recognising operators that consistently deliver excellence, preserve cultural and natural heritage, and adapt to global challenges. These awards not only instil pride within the industry but also assure international travellers of the quality and authenticity of the Thai tourism experience. By highlighting sustainability and cultural identity, we are reinforcing Thailand’s competitiveness on the world stage.”

The prestigious event formed part of the “Grand Celebration” under the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025, showcasing Thailand’s blend of cultural heritage, environmental stewardship and world-class hospitality. By placing sustainability at the heart of tourism excellence, the Awards reinforce Thailand’s alignment with international expectations for meaningful and responsible travel.

First held in 1996, the biennial Thailand Tourism Awards have become a benchmark of quality across the industry. This year introduced the Thailand Tourism Sustainability Awards, reflecting the global shift towards responsible travel and bringing the total categories to five: tourist attractions, accommodation, health and wellness tourism, tour programmes, and tourism support and promotion of sustainable tourism.

Entries were rigorously assessed by an expert panel against four criteria: product and service, sustainable and responsible management, business operations, and support and promotion of sustainable tourism. In total, 17 operators received the Excellence Awards, 59 earned the Outstanding Awards, and 69 were honoured with the inaugural Sustainability Awards for leadership in sustainable and socially responsible management. Six organisations achieved Hall of Fame status, reserved for those winning top honours in three consecutive editions.
