Bangkok, 23 October 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) joined Swedavia and Norse Atlantic Airways (Norse Atlantic) in celebrating the launch of the airline’s inaugural Stockholm–Bangkok flight on 22 October 2025 at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The new service marks Norse Atlantic’s first direct route between Sweden and Thailand, enhancing long-haul connectivity between Northern Europe and Southeast Asia for the 2025/2026 winter season.
The send-off ceremony was led by Mr. Karl Eklund, Director of Stockholm Arlanda Airport, and Mr. Bård Nordhagen, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Norse Atlantic Airways, together with Ms. Patsalinn Swetarat, Director of the TAT Stockholm Office, and representatives from the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm. The ceremony highlighted the strong partnership and shared commitment to expanding travel opportunities between Sweden and Thailand.
The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony and photo session before the departure of the inaugural flight from Terminal 5, Check-in Counter No. 90, at 16.00 hrs (CET), carrying a full load of 338 passengers.
This new Stockholm–Bangkok service is one of three direct routes operated by Norse Atlantic Airways to Thailand, alongside the upcoming Stockholm–Phuket and Oslo–Phuket flights. Together, these routes form part of Norse Atlantic’s five inaugural services to Thailand this winter season, which also include London Gatwick and Manchester, further reinforcing Thailand’s position as a preferred long-haul destination for European travellers.
Thailand remains the most popular Asian destination for Nordic travellers, who spend an average of 65,880 Baht per trip and stay for about 19.9 days, generating an estimated 14.65 billion Baht in tourism revenue. Among the Nordic markets, Sweden leads, with 212,523 arrivals in 2024 and 141,738 recorded between January and September 2025, reaffirming strong recovery and continued interest in Thailand as a long-haul leisure destination.
