Bangkok, 22 October 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced government backing for two major tourism events — Colors of the River: Loi Krathong Festival 2025 and Vijit Chao Phraya 2025 — both set to enhance Thailand’s tourism season with vibrant light, colour, and cultural celebrations. The announcement followed a showcase at Government House on 21 October 2025, attended by Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul and Cabinet members. The events were introduced by Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Attakorn Sirilatthayakorn, and TAT Governor, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool.
Mr. Attakorn Sirilatthayakorn said, “The government is committed to positioning Thailand as a global tourism hub — not just a destination, but a seamless centre connecting travel, culture, and experiences. The Colors of the River: Loi Krathong Festival 2025 and Vijit Chao Phraya 2025 are key drivers to propel Thailand’s economy and tourism during the peak season, bringing happiness to residents and visitors alike while generating income for local communities and stimulating tourism growth nationwide.”
From October to December, TAT has prepared a series of signature festivals and creative activities to further stimulate travel among both domestic and international quality travellers, reinforcing the vibrancy of Thailand’s high season.
The Colors of the River: Loi Krathong Festival 2025 will take place in two renowned UNESCO World Heritage sites. The Maha Loi Krathong @Sukhothai will run from 27 October to 5 November 2025 at Sukhothai Historical Park, featuring spectacular light displays and activities that celebrate the splendour of the ancient Sukhothai civilisation. The Maha Loi Krathong @Ayutthaya will follow from 2 to 6 November 2025 at Wat Phra Ram, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, showcasing creative light and sound presentations inspired by local wisdom and artistry. TAT will also support regional Loi Krathong events nationwide, including in Chiang Mai, Tak, Samut Songkhram, and Roi Et.
Running for 45 days from 1 November to 15 December 2025, Vijit Chao Phraya 2025 will transform the Chao Phraya River into a luminous corridor of art and innovation. The event will feature spectacular light, colour, and sound shows across 15 landmark locations along both sides of the river. Highlights include a 500-drone performance at Rama VIII Bridge every Friday and grand fireworks with immersive light-and-sound effects at Phra Phuttha Yodfa Bridge every Saturday and Sunday.
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool said, “Both the Loi Krathong Festival 2025 and Vijit Chao Phraya 2025 embody TAT’s mission to showcase Thailand’s rich cultural heritage through creative storytelling and world-class event experiences that captivate visitors and sustain travel demand during the peak season. By celebrating our cultural identity, traditions, and iconic landmarks, we aim to elevate Thailand’s festivals into world events that inspire travellers, boost tourism activity, and reinforce the nation’s position as a vibrant, high-value destination on the global stage.”
